Duelbits Goes Offline After $7 Million Hot Wallet Crypto Hack

Crypto casino Duelbits has gone offline after attackers drained about $7 million from its hot wallets on Sept. 24. The attackers moved stolen assets across four blockchains, with about $6 million later concentrated in a single Ethereum address.

The breach appears linked to a suspected private-key compromise, according to CoinDesk’s report. The stolen assets were moved and converted largely into Ether, making the funds easier to track on Ethereum. Duelbits is investigating the incident while its platform remains offline.

The attack adds to a growing series of crypto security incidents involving centralized wallet infrastructure. Hot wallets keep assets available for transactions, but their online access can expose funds if attackers obtain the credentials or keys controlling them. The investigation should clarify how the attackers gained access and whether customer balances were affected.

Why it matters

The incident highlights operational and custody risks for crypto platforms. Concentration of stolen funds on Ethereum may also make blockchain tracking and recovery efforts easier.
