Strategy Pauses Bitcoin Buying as $139.3 Million Goes to Preferred Stock
Strategy bought no bitcoin, sold no bitcoin, and issued no common shares during the week ended September 13. Instead, the company spent $139.3 million of cash to repurchase 1,420,467 shares of its STRC preferred stock.
The filing marks a second straight week without a change to Strategy’s bitcoin holdings. The company held about 845,050 BTC as of September 13, acquired for $63.73 billion at an average cost of $75,412 per bitcoin. Strategy also reported $5.10 billion in its USD Reserve and $1.30 billion in USD Cash.
The shift reflects Strategy’s newer capital framework, which gives it more flexibility to repurchase preferred securities and common stock while preserving its bitcoin holdings. The company increased its digital credit securities repurchase authorization to $2 billion on September 8. About $1.05 billion remained available after the latest STRC buyback.
Why it matters
Strategy is temporarily using cash for capital management instead of expanding its bitcoin treasury. That shift could matter for investors tracking its liquidity and bitcoin-linked equity strategy.
