Samsung Files U.S. Patent for Smart-Contract Crypto Wallet

Samsung Electronics has filed a U.S. patent application for a digital asset wallet that uses smart contracts to process cryptocurrency transactions without requiring devices to directly manage private keys. The application, published July 23, describes a system in which registered devices submit transaction requests to a smart contract. The patent carries U.S. publication number 20260212355.

The proposed system links device addresses and authentication information to a smart contract that performs wallet functions. When a device requests a transaction, the contract checks the stored information and can process the request if it matches. Samsung also describes using multiple devices to manage one wallet, including smartphones, computers, wearables and other connected devices.

However, the filing does not confirm a commercial product or integration with Samsung Wallet. Samsung already offers Blockchain Keystore, which stores cryptocurrency private keys in a secure area on supported Galaxy devices. The new proposal instead shifts more wallet functionality to the blockchain and smart-contract layer.

Why it matters

The design could change how consumer devices handle crypto security by reducing direct private-key management. Investors should watch whether Samsung turns the patent into a commercial wallet product.
