Morgan Stanley’s MSBT Bitcoin ETF Adds $50.6 Million in September
Morgan Stanley’s MSBT Bitcoin ETF accumulated about 642 BTC worth $50.6 million during September. The purchases came through multiple transfers from Coinbase Prime over roughly two weeks. By Sept. 14, the fund had $635 million in net assets and $538 million in cumulative net inflows.
MSBT has attracted steady demand since launching on April 8, 2026. The fund recorded only one net outflow day, a $5.26 million withdrawal on May 29. Its 0.14% expense ratio also positioned it as a low-cost option among U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs. The trust tracks the CoinDesk Bitcoin Benchmark and lists on NYSE Arca.
The September buying suggests continued share creation rather than a single large Bitcoin purchase. However, most reported demand has come from self-directed Morgan Stanley clients rather than financial advisors. Broader advisor adoption could therefore change the fund’s flow profile as the product matures.
Why it matters
MSBT's sustained inflows show continued demand for regulated Bitcoin exposure through traditional financial markets. Investors may watch whether advisor-led adoption adds to that demand.
